Your Test

There is a cab waiting outside for you. Already you are picturing that yellow car. Add this to your thought; it is a nightly hour and there is rain falling from the sky. There is a faint light off in the distance, but it doesn’t do you any good. You still can’t see the face of the cab driver. But is that because there is no driver? Or is there really someone there that just doesn’t wish to be seen? You’re beginning to question. This is good. Now, picture that you are alone walking out of a local café into the November air. You are depicting the brisk wind giving you that autumn chill. Pause. Think about that last sentence. You’re walking out of a local café. Local meaning it is most likely that if you live in the area, you were bound to see someone you know or at least someone who knows you. Café meaning that there is a possibility that you were there to relax. Then again, you could have been tenser than you have ever been in your life. Consider this as a minor test to see if you are truly prepared to hear our story. Yet, I am afraid I am not going to be able to tell you when moments like these come up. That wouldn’t be interesting. Here is the only hint I will spell out for you: nothing is insignificant.
